About Mary:

Mary is new to Cleveland but already appreciates the city’s unique neighborhoods and easy access to the countryside.  Her hobbies include hiking, bird watching, yoga, playing soccer, learning German, playing with her two parakeets and doing basically anything that involves being outdoors.  She says she wishes she could fiddle, but for now the oboe is her only instrumental talent.  She enjoys listening to a range of music in her spare time including folk, Irish, Bach and 16th century vocal music, especially Lassus and Josquin.  She shares this embarrassing moment onstage: “In a performance of Mozart’s Gran Partita a few summers ago I realized, as I was leading the group out on stage, that I was still wearing my tie-dye colored flip flops.  I must have turned bright red.  Now I always double check to make sure I’ve changed into my concert shoes!”  Mary enjoys both private teaching and educational outreach.
