Beth loves living in Cleveland because she can live in a great neighborhood with great public schools and bike or walk to work. She and her husband have two daughters, two parakeets and a fish. Beth has an intense love of words, and enjoys playing Scrabble and organizing spelling bees. In her spare time she likes to bake and go hiking. Beth shared this audition story: “I took many auditions before landing the job in Cleveland. I was in the habit of calling my husband after each audition to say ‘Hi honey, I won the job! Just kidding!‘ Well, when I actually won this job he wouldn’t believe me until I said it at least 4 times and was crying and laughing at the same time!” Her most memorable moment onstage was much more than a moment: “It was the concert I played while in labor with my first child. I was about five days overdue and felt what I thought might be a contraction around 6:30 pm. So I made a big bowl of pasta and had my husband drive me to the Allen Theater downtown for the concert with Pierre Boulez. I kept feeling contractions about every 20-30 minutes during the first half of the concert, but nothing too uncomfortable. By the time we were playing the short Ravel opera on the second half, my contractions were about 7-8 minutes apart. My great friend and colleague, violinist Miho Hashizume, gave me a ride home after the concert, where I labored until about 1am. Hannah was born at 4:30am.” Beth teaches young violin students, ages 6-12.
